STUDENT COUNCIL PURPOSE

Young Scholars Student Council is a leadership program offered to help develop public speaking and leadership qualities as well as encourage civic and community mindedness. Members have a good time as they meet their goal of helping others while developing character.

Officers include;The President:(4th/5th grade), Vice President: (4th/5th grade), Secretary (3rd grade), Treasurer (3rd/4th grade) and Sergeant-at-Arms (3rd/4th grade);

Members take notes during the meetings and relay them back to their classmates while encouraging discussion about the issues. It is their responsibility to voice the opinions of their constituents during discussions, and vote accordingly. The President works with the advisors to develop meeting agendas.

ACTIVITIES
The primary goals of the council are to: promote school spirit; support school events; increase community service.
  • Promote school spirit through the use of posters and videos, the members try to encourage all students and staff to participate in our various activities. Every Friday Student Council also encourages all students and staff to show their school pride by wearing Young Scholars spirit t-shirts.
  • Promote school events through year-long fund raising efforts.
  • Promote Community Service by participating in various volunteer efforts and understanding and participating in local environmental efforts throughout the year.
