DISTINCTIVE FEATURES OF EARLY CHILDHOOD
Young Scholars
Uses, "Creative Curriculum", by Diane Trister Dodge
INFANT and
TODDLER
Children are most involved with building
trust and autonomy. YSAFE uses, The Creative Curriculum for Infants and
Toddlers emphasizing the importance of building responsive relationships
among caregivers/teachers, children, families and the community in the
context of daily routines and activities. The curriculum outlines what
children learn during the first three years, the experience through
which children achieve these learning goals, what staff and parents can
do to help children reach these goals, and the materials and setting
needed to support implementation. Creative Curriculum is supported by
the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
TRANSITION-to-PRESCHOOL, Age 2 years + integrates
The Creative Curriculum for Early Childhood
and CLEAR Curriculum builds on what we know about how preschool children
learn. With this approach interest areas of the classroom become the
laboratory for the children to investigate, reconstruct and share what
they are learning as they build concepts: literacy, math, science and
personal health and safety and social studies.
