YOUNG SCHOLARS READING DAILY
The Millionaire Club and Young Scholars recommends that students read daily either on their own or with an adult and also keep a log so that they can track their progress daily. Reading we know helps improve vocabulary, boost self-esteem, allows a child to expand their imagination and all this translates to a well-rounded better eduated student.
The Millionaire Club is a coordinated effort by the Departments of Library Services and Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment to keep HISD students reading over the summer months. The Millionaire Club is one way HISD is addressing the phenomenon known as 'summer slide' or 'summer loss'.
